Allied Keeps Calling for a Dead Man

The previous manager for my company in my position was killed in 2/2010. He had a bill that must have been sent to Allied. Allied has called twice for him and BOTH times I have stated he is dead! What part of dead do they not get? I told them twice to remove our # and to check with the state's department of vital statistics for his death certificate if they don't believe me. Plus it was an overseas call because you could tell it was an 'Indian' accent each time. I am pissed off because of the calls I should only have to tell them 1 Time to remove the number! I also tried to call the number in Florida listed on here for customer service but it only rang and no answer or voicemail. Thanks for letting me vent because these credit collection companies like Allied are friggin' ridiculous!

Regrettably, these collection firms will eventually sell the debt to another collection firm and the harassing will begin anew. Only a carefully written letter, asserting your legal rights, sent certified mail, return receipt requested, has any possibility of stopping the phone calls.

I have a standard letter I send every time and it is the only solution.

In every case they ceased contacting me.

I am glad Allied was just find 1.75 million by the FTC.

Unproffesional people

I was sent to Allied Collection by a Radiology office that never attempted to call me. When I was contacted by Allied I went to pay the bill and signed a payment plan. I mistakenly missed the second payment but when I realized my mistake I went to Allied Collections and paid the medical debt in cash before the agreed on time. Allied then informed me court papers were already filed to collect another 400+ dollars in legal fees. Later I found out court papers were filed same day last payment was made. During all of this many attempts were made to connect with their legal office for resolution with no results. Please file complaints with your local agencies if you received the same sort of service.

Allied interstate are crooks

I got a letter saying I owed money, a small amount, to the NY/NJ Port Authority. I have never delt with whoever that is. I see the scam. They only want me to pay via credit card so they then can steal my money. By the way who is the NY/NJ port authority and what do they do in Nevada? I telephoned several times like others and found only a recording and dead air. It is so obvious that with the small amount of money most people will just pay it and in the end lose it all to the scammers.

Left Message -return call no answer

Received a message to call a number, called several times, several days. No answer just put on hold. They are calling an incorrect number, in fact calling a restricted number set up for safety purposes. Wish I could talk to the *** to explain that they have the wrong person. And I know this for 100% fact. How do you talk to someone who won't answer. It's ridiculous that someone would call my home late in the evening with a message to return a call and you do an no one will answer, you are left on hold for 3 minutes then disconnected.

Allied Interstate

These guys continue to call my house at all kinds of odd hours. They just woke me up from some great sleep too. They have called me, my parents, my in-laws, and my grandmother, looking for my brother. I have had our numbers put on the do-not call list on 3 different occasions, but it doesn't seem to stick. They quit calling for like a month, and then they start back with the same bull *** again. I had to be very rude with them this morning, but they are *** me off, so i really couldn't care any less!

Allied interstate scam, incessant calls

This scam company calls at least twice daily. From what I have read on other sites, this is out of control. Why haven't they been stopped and prosecuted? They are trying to scam people out of their money. Some people will pay the bill without even realizing that they DON'T owe these *** any thing. The government really needs to pursue these *** and all companies that use false and/or misleading advertising and revoke their rights, prosecute to the FULL extent of the law, and get it clear that it is not OK to rip off the consumers who are really struggling to survive in today's economy. Let's string 'em up in the town square, let all the others see what will happen to them if they persist.

The best thing to do when you have issues like this is to contact a consumer attorney. The National Association of Consumer Advocates (NACA) has a website where you can easily connect to attorneys who work in this field.

The website is www.naca.net. Select the "find an attorney" tab, put in your state, select "debt collection", click whatever box makes the most sense (FDCPA, Not My Debt, Harassment and Abuse, etc.), and then click the search button to the left. A few attorneys will come up so the best thing to do is to (starting at the middle or bottom, because the top names probably get the most inquiries) send out a form email explaining the situation to all of the attorneys listed.

If you leave your contact information, the interested lawyers should get back to you. Good luck.

Allied Interstate is a debt collection company. The "Do Not Call Registry" has absolutely nothing to do with debt collection calls. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) regulates all debt collection activity including harassing telephone calls. YOU CAN COLLECT $1,000 under this federal law for harassing phone calls, doesn't matter if you owe the debt or not. If you are getting called from Allied Interstate, check for violations of the FDCPA at www.stopdebtcollectorsharassment.com

Here is some of the info I've seen:

Harrassment by Allied Interstate

This company calls my phone non stop! I have explained to them over and over that I am not Craig and I have had this phone number for several years. They tell me that the calls will stop. Today I was yelling at them about the calls and my other line rang and it was them AGAIN! I do not know how to stop the calls. I am thinking about going to the better business bureau and hope that they can help me. I would like to know what other people have done to stop the harrassment. Any suggestions? Thanks!

An attorney is the best way to go however if you are like me the cost of an attorney will be at a large cost that I don't want or need. My solution is much easier and cheaper.

EVERYTIME allied calls me I crank up the stereo as loud as it goes; I then put the phone right up to the speaker and play some good old twanging country songs. I let them listen to songs like; She got the gold mine and I got the shaft, Harper Valley PTA, Alvin and the chipmunks Witch doctor, My give a *** busted (not to twangy but appropriate)and similar songs. They now only call me every few days. Also this method does not require any aggravation or stress for me but lots of frustration for them.

Last week when allied rep called me he said "oh you’re the one who plays loud music in our ears huh?" I laughed and replied; "yep, enjoy" and turned on some music for him. As they don't listen when told verbally or in writing not to call me but only contact me by mail I have even gone so far as to wait on hold for a rep just to force them to waste their time as punishment for wasting my time. I repeat what they all say "this call is being recorded for quality or legal purposes please hold for someone who gives a ***" if they don't hang up after the first song is over I pick up the phone and state "your call is very important to me please hold a person will be with you whenever I feel like it.

Have some fun with this I am sure you can think of a few songs that you would like to play for them. LOL

Allied Interstate Tries to Collect Debts that have been PAID!

Allied Interstate is attempting to collect a debt from me that I paid MONTHS AGO and have check images to prove it! They are RUDE RUDE RUDE and should not be in business (if that is what you call it). They will call you relentlessly several times a day and are very unprofessional! How does a PAID debt get turned over to collections anyway? This originated through a 15 year relationship with AOL. I would not recommend doing business with AOL if this is the type of people they associate themselves with! Disgusting! How do you report such bad business practices? Attorney general?

Allied Interstate Shakedown - Divide & Conquer

Don't fall for this very intimidating trick being used by AI. long story short, insisted i owed a debt i KNEW i did not and then basically tried to scare me into thinking i had only hours before wage garnishment was initiated. They apparently call your HR dept to pass along a message to call them by noon. A one 'Mr. Jenkins' was the contact person. After returning their call, they informed me they confirmed 'your info' with HR and your wages are in the process of being garnished. BUT...he can help. they wanted to fax over paperwork (with heavy emphasis on the promissory note part) and begin repaying this debt. i began asking questions like what previous addresses did they have on file; phone numbers; and the best question of all - the last 4 of my social. NOTHING they had was accurate. I told them this was a complete shakedown and they hung up. Strangely, when calling the number 866-348-**** there is no 'ring' and "mr. jenkins" conveniently happens to pick and in this case was caught off guard. I even overheard him say to his alleged supervisor 'to be nice' to me. i can only assume it's because they thought they 'had' me. Anyway, don't let them pull this one on you - dividing the facts to conquer you. HR is NEVER allowed to give any info out without your written authorization. EVER. Additionally, wage garnishment can never happen without you first knowing it. they are effin scumbags. i don't give a sheit how legit the person is they are a reflection of the people for whom they work.

To the person who posted under Razorfish.

I agree with you that this company sucks.

However, HR can give your info out and unfortunately once payroll gets a garnishment against an employee they have to take it from the employees paycheck till an order comes from the garnishing copmany. Sorry.

Harrassed me with phone calls

Someone gave our home phone number as theirs and now Allied Interstate is harrassing us looking for a person who doesn't live here, that we've never heard of. I have told them many, many times that there is no one here by that name...they just tell us that they'll take our number off their records and then 2 days later, another person from Allied Interstate calls again asking for this unknown person. This has been going on for months. Anyone else had this problem with Allied Interstate? Who can I contact to complain about Allied Interstate???

They are horrible and they will not stop unless you stop them. I have dealt with them, thankfully it is over now. I suggest this ifyou like, because you may well want to educate yourself on the many available free or close to free things you can do and YOU have rights!

Credit Card debt? Feeling harassed by creditors or collection agencies? Receiving tons of bogus looking consolidation company offers? These people want to charge you and you don't even know if its legitimate! Beware.

What to do? Where to get real answers without being charged tons of fees?

Send a self addressed stamped envelope with $2 (for processing, thats it no more) to:

NYC HOS

PO Box 135

Babylon, NY 11702

What you will receive is valid information on where to go for real help, where to find out your rights for your state and what to avoid when settling.

You have rights and there is help out there, you just need to arm yourself with some of it. Did you know there are services designed to actually help you get out of debt that do not charge you high fees at all (many free or just have a really (yes, really) low cost set-up fee and are regulated by the government).

Said they were an insurance agency...

These people originally called for a "Stanley"... let them know they had the wrong number and to remove my number from their call list. Then a couple days later they called again asking for the same person..again, told them wrong number. I was then asked who I was (refused to give that info) and maybe they could help me with my insurance by getting me a better deal. Told the guy I wasn't interested and requested to be removed from their call list once again. Now, a few months later and multiple calls and continued requests to be removed I continue to get calls 3 and 4 times a day. When I answer the phone with intentions to rip them a new one, no one is there and the call simply disconnects... WTF?? How do you get rid of these people????

Allied interstate--a way to make them stop calling you

Allied Interstate started calling my number asking for someone I never even heard of. Sometimes they would call and hang up when I answered. After several days of asking them to stop calling I told them they would receive 100 calls for every time they continued to call me. I did that for a couple more days--calling and hanging up, calling and repeating stop calling (xxx) xxx-xxxx, or waiting for them to hang up 100 times for every time they called me after I asked them to stop. Within a couple days I didn't get any more calls. If everyone did this it might really get them to reconsider their tactics as their costs would rise.

They just harrass old people all the time & scare them into giving them check numbers & take whole lot of money out of their account. I know a lady they have done it too & she also has dementia so they took advanage. She was left with bounced checks as there was not enough pf money to meet her bills.

Guest

I've had my landline number for over 12 years, and almost all the calls I get on it are either telemarketers or bill collectors, so I screen all my calls by listening to the answering machine. AI somehow managed to get a hold of my cell number, so I just put theirs on my "call reject" list.

Problem solved.

I'm disabled and unemployed and have debts that I cannot realistically repay within the foreseeable future. SSDI allows for barely a starvation level of existence. I woudn't even have a cell phone or an Internet connection if it weren't for the fact that my wife has a halfway decent job. But my debts are mine, and hers are hers -- we keep our finances separate.

Course bill collectors don't care about this.

My only option now is bankruptcy, but that costs a s**tload of money that I don't have right now either, but one of these days I will, and then I'll be rid of them. I feel bad that some of the businesses that I owe money to will lose out, but with bankruptcy you can't pick and choose who you want to keep and whose debt you want to have discharged.

Guest

what a waste of time. Don't you have a job?

Guest

Ah, a person after my own heart! I have done this same thing to several companies.

Every now and again stopping to ask them how they like being called. It is quite effective.

Allied interstate phone hassle

We've been receiving calls from Allied Interstate for about a month. I never answer them, and they leave a message (sounds prerecorded) that says they are calling about repayment of a debt. When calling their number back, it just rang and rang, or disconnected. 866-396-****. Today, an english speaking woman answered on the second ring. I had her on speakerphone and told her the call was being recorded, said I wanted to know how they got my number and why they were calling since we have no outstanding debts. She asked if a woman lived her by a name I've never heard before, and I told her no, never heard the name, no one here by that name (incidentally, we've had this number for 6 years, and never had calls for this person before). She apologized, and said she'd take my number out of their database and it would take 72 hours to take effect. We'll see. Any more calls, and I'm contacting the FCC, and lodging a complaint since we are on the do not call registry. Hope this is helpful.
